Abstract
Adaptation is a process that involves rereading and changing from one vehicle to another. The present work aims to analyze the graphic novel A Caolha by Verônica Berta, an adaptation of the homonymous short story by Júlia Lopes de Almeida. Throughout the work, a study will be conducted on the adaptation process and analysis of Verônica Berta's graphic novel, working on the elements and characters, especially regarding the meaning that aesthetics contributes to the reading of the characters. Thus, it is proposed to present studies on the adaptation process, as well as to critically read the object of this work. For the cinematographic study, the theoretical support of Robert Stam (2008) and Linda Hutcheon (2011) on adaptations will be used, and regarding the language of comics, Alberto Ricardo Pessoa (2016), and in the study of characters, Le Breton (2007).
