Escrevivência: epistemology of the orixás and the self-affirmation of the "subject-black Woman" in the tale of Das águas, by Cristiane Sobral

Abstract

This article is a study about the concept of escrevivência interpreted as an epistemology engendered in the cosmogony of the orixás. Therefore, we aim to analyze a short story by Cristiane Sobral, entitled Das águas, in which the author undertakes the experiences lived by the character Omi in a space of power. In order to understand how the self-presentation of the black woman and the self-affirmation of the character occurs in the literary object, we pay attention to the author's way of composition headed in the ancestral/spiritual connection with the deity Osún. Thus, based on theoretical assumptions of Evaristo (2005, 2009, 2020), Verger (2002), Munanga (2020), Carneiro and Cury (2008), Sales (2020), Silva (2018), among other names, we conclude that the self-affirmation of the "black-woman-subject" in literature flows from the historical and social conjunction particular to black women and promotes the edification of a collective wisdom.
